Diabetes and Bone Loss

One of the most debilitating aspects of the diabetes condition is need for amputation. When you read amputation, your mind automatically goes to loss of a toe, a foot, or an arm, which terribly does occur in advanced cases of diabetes. However, one of the less known outcomes, is bone loss around teeth, and then the subsequent loss of teeth. Most people dont think of it this way, but this is also amputation! People with missing teeth are unfortunately living as amputees, and its a debilitating condition to endure.

A couple of years ago, one of our good friends, and patient Joseph C., started losing his teeth due to diabetes.  By the time he received medical treatment to slow the diabetes, he had already suffered from irreversible tooth loosening and bone loss. He was paralyzed by fear of living out his days as a tooth amputee and didn't even know a solution was possible. He had heard horror stories about bad outcomes from dental implant treatment, and had also feared the same would happen to him.

When he finally came to us, we assured him the a solution was possible, and he took the leap of faith with us. He is so happy that he regularly takes his personal time to speak to our prospective patients at our monthly patient seminars!
