Life-Changing Results Are Worth the Cost
Factors Impacting Implant Costs
The factors that determine dental implant pricing are unique to each patient and their treatment plan, making it difficult to discuss average costs. A single dental implant at our practice can range anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 per tooth. Some elements that determine implant dentistry costs are:
Implant Location
Implants that restore teeth in the front of the mouth are more difficult to place, and ensuring that the restorations they support blend in with natural teeth is challenging. This increases their cost.
Number of Implants
More implants mean a higher cost. A traditional implant-supported denture requires several implants and will be more expensive, but a dental bridge supported by just a few dental implants will cost less.
Bone Grafting
When teeth are lost, the jawbone is no longer stimulated by those tooth roots and will begin to atrophy. Implants require sufficient bone density to be successful. Patients with a weak jawbone may need a bone graft before receiving dental implants.
Sedation
While local anesthetic is enough for many patients, some patients need sedation to ensure they are relaxed during oral surgery or other dental care. Sedation dentistry can cost between $4,000 and $5,000.
Extractions
For some patients, teeth that cannot be saved need to be extracted before implants are placed. The extraction procedure will add to the total cost of implants and varies depending on whether one tooth or several teeth require extraction.
Materials
The implants; a restoration, such as crown, bridge, or denture; and connector pieces between the two, called abutments, can all be made from a variety of materials depending on your needs and goals. This creates a wide price range, even for a single implant.
Are Implants Really Worth It?
Dentists recommend implants because they are the most comprehensive form of dental restoration, and patients love them because they are the next best thing to natural teeth. Implant-supported restorations appear lifelike and have unmatched stability, unlike traditional dentures, which are unstable and need frequent adjustment. The implants themselves can last a lifetime, and provide jawbone stimulation that keeps your jaw strong and healthy — something no other treatment provides.
