What Is the Difference Between All-on-4 and Traditional Implants?
Both types of implants use durable titanium posts to replace missing teeth. Here are a few key differences:
- Number of Implants — All-on-4 dental implants use four implants to restore a full arch of missing teeth, while traditional implant placement uses six to eight dental implants.
- Placement — Using the All-on-4 method, your dentist will place two of the implants at strategic angles, maximizing the existing bone material.
- Candidacy — Patients with existing jawbone atrophy may not be good candidates for traditional dental implants without preparatory bone grafting. Because the All-on-4 method places implants at an angle to maximize bone material, many patients can forgo preparatory bone grafting.
Why Does Bone Material Matter?
